Chapter 05: How to be a cat mom and not die trying

This is my cat, his name is Jovi (like Bon Jovi, of course). One of the big things that I've done in my life, was adopting him, so I'm gonna tell you a bit about how that went.

Throughout all 2019 I knew that I wanted a cat, because I had that picture on my mind of a warm fuzzy hair ball that sleeps with you and makes you company. Of course my family said no, everybody here seemed to hate cats and we already had a dog so a cat was definitely a no.

But I was born to rule, not to follow any rules so on September of 2019 I decided to make my dream come true and I sent a message to an adoption page on Instagram asking if they knew about any cats that needed a home. They replied immediately and told me about a guy who found kittens on the street and wanted to find homes for them. I was thrilled because they lived almost next to me and all the situation was super exciting. So I talked to the guy and and the next day, a Sunday, in the morning he brought me my cat home!

It was the most horrible kitten that I've ever seen, he couldn't open one eye and he had a bad leg and was so tiny and skinny (he was the size of my palm). But I loved him, immediately, he was my baby, so I named him and bought all the necessary stuff for him to live comfortably. My family was so upset that they almost kicked me out, but now, almost three years later, they love him more than they love me.

Jovi is not a warm cat, he's not really a physical touch kinda guy, but he definitely knows when you need him to be there for you, sleeping with his head on your legs. He wakes you up in the mornings (even on weekends when you want to sleep), he eats almost everything that he souldn't eat (he's a big fan of manjar, leche condesada and avocados) and he loves to play with my yarns and other silly things as straws, plant leaves, pieces of paper or tea bags.

So, how to have a cat and not die trying? Just adopt one and hope for the best.

Love, Sophi.
